Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 8

Brant DeArmond, a starting wide receiver in 2008, was the first Wildcat to wear 8.

A cornerback in 2009, Ryan Bruce was the next Wildcat to wear 8. He played alongside his stepbrother, Ryan Hernandez. Their brother, Brent Hernandez, was a defensive end in 2012.

Cole DeVilliers, a starting wide receiver, wore 8 in 2010. His older brother, Lucas, was the first starting quarterback in Cy Woods football history.

The 8 jersey was worn by Aaron Boudreaux, a cornerback in 2011. He's the oldest of the Boudreaux brothers, although only two of them played at the varsity level for Cy Woods. Jacobi was a running back in 2014, while Cameron spent his first two years at Cy Woods before moving to Waltrip. Aaron also ran the 400 for the Wildcats.

Jamahl Johnson, also known as "Lil' G," was a wide receiver who wore 8 in 2012. He got this nickname because he had a small stature that was reminiscent of Garren Barden, who was a running back in 2009.

The next player to wear 8 was Chris England, a starting wide receiver in 2013. His younger brother, Bryan, played football in his first two years at Cy Woods before switching to basketball for the Wildcats.

Austin Greaves, a linebacker, wore #8 in 2014. His older brother, Tyler, was also a linebacker; he played in 2013 and 2014.

Austin made the Opening Night roster in 2013, his sophomore year. At that time, he was a safety and wore #38. He played two games before spending the rest of that season on the JV team. Austin began 2014 back on the JV, but he was one of the first callups of the season. He switched #25 in 2015, his senior year.

A random tidbit: Austin is the first Wildcat linebacker to wear a single-digit number since Hayden Dobbs in the first season.

Bryson Powers became the starting quarterback in 2015 after earning 2nd-team All-District 17-6A honors at safety as a sophomore in 2014. He transferred back to Klein Collins in 2016 and now plays safety at Tulsa.

Sean Despres moved to linebacker and switched to #8 in 2016.

Deontae Cook, a defensive back, wore #8 in 2017.

Taber Tofte (the E in his last name is silent), a safety, made the varsity in 2018, his junior year. He missed the early part of his first year due to an injury and was mainly a backup that season. Taber became a starting safety in 2019 and was a 2nd-team All-District 14-6A selection. His older twin sisters were both volleyball players at Cy Woods.
