Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 59

On the final day of June, the countdown has now entered the 50s. First up is 59.

Tarin Baity, a defensive end in 2009, was the first to wear #59. He was also a backup center on the basketball team.

Tarin Baity, 2009

The next player to wear #59, Conrad Wozniak, was a two-year starter on the offensive line for the Wildcats as a guard. His younger brother, Wyatt, is a lineman (both offensive and defensive) who graduated from Cy Woods in 2015 and is currently playing at Indiana State. His older brother, Austen, played football at Cy-Fair and Indiana State.

In college, Conrad decided to go with baseball, which he also played at Cy Woods. His first stop was Frank Phillips College, a community college located in Borger, up in the Panhandle. Conrad then transferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where he won the America East Pitcher of the Year Award in his first season with the Retrievers. He finished the year with a 1.48 ERA, the 8th-best (tied with one other pitcher) figure in all of Division I. Conrad played a starring role for the Retrievers as they went 34-20 in 2015, their 2nd-highest win total in 46 years as a program, and reached the championship game of the America East Conference tournament.

Conrad now pitches for the Gary SouthShore Railcats of the independent American Association.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 60

And with this post, we are done with the 60s.

Carlos Valdez, a backup offensive lineman in 2008, was the first to wear #60. He is not related to Trey Valdez, a defensive end who played in 2009.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 61

Two more for the 60s... now, let's go on to 61.

Jimmy Rodgers was officially listed as an offensive lineman, but his main responsibility was long snapping. That was what he did for the first 2 years in Cy Woods football history. Jimmy was also a baseball player for the Wildcats. His younger brother, Robbie, was an offensive lineman in 2014.

Jimmy Rodgers, 2008-09

Jordan Woodward made the varsity as a junior in 2011 and he emerged as a key member of the offensive line that year. He showed his versatility by playing all three spots on the offensive line, usually on the right side. Jordan was the starting center and was selected as a team captain in 2012, his senior year.

Michael Baker, a backup nose tackle, wore #61 in 2013.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 62

Next up is 62.

The first player to wear 62 was Brandon "Buddy" Lee, a backup offensive lineman in 2008.

Brandon Lee, 2008

Weston Adams, a guard, made the varsity as a junior in 2009. He got his feet wet that year and showed promise, but he really took off as a starter in 2010, his senior year. Weston was also named a team captain that year and became one of the anchors of the offensive line.

Weston Adams, 2009-10

Logan Riordan was called up in 2011, his sophomore year, and was given this number. Logan was mainly a guard and played center on occasion. He did not play as a senior because of an injury.

Jernard Smith, a backup guard, wore #62 in 2014.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 63

Moving on to number 63.

Tyler Mock was given this number when he was summoned to the varsity as a sophomore in 2009. He mostly played on the JV that year, though. When Tyler became a full-time varsity player in 2010, his junior year, he switched to #56.

Tyler Mock, 2009-11; wore #56 in 2010 and 2011

Mikal Fernandez, a defensive tackle, wore #63 in 2010. The bulk of his playing time came with the extra point team. He squatted 600 pounds in 2010, which remains a record in the Wildcat weight room today. Mikal also competed as a powerlifter for the Wildcats.

Mikal Fernandez, 2010

Jonathan Pundt, a backup defensive tackle in 2012, was the next player to wear #63. His brother, Robert, was a backup offensive lineman in 2008.

Collin Netterville, a backup offensive lineman, wore #63 in 2013.

Collin Netterville, 2013

Antonio "T.J." Frank, an offensive lineman, wore #63 in 2014. The Wildcats rotated linemen quite a bit in 2014, and he was one of the primary backups. His brother, Caleb, played wide receiver before he decided to focus on track.

Two players wore #63 in 2018 and both of them were offensive linemen. Aaron Price wore it to began the season but he left midway through the season. Dominic Londoño was given this number after he was called up during his junior season. Dominic was mainly a backup as a senior.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 64

Number 64 begins with a former cornerback-turned-defensive end-turned-offensive lineman.

Matt Alcala was the starting right tackle in 2009. But, he took a rather circuitous route to the offensive line: if I remember correctly, he went to Goodson, but then he moved to Los Angeles before freshman year. Matt moved back to Cy Woods before our sophomore year and was a cornerback on the JV Gold (B) team. He then moved to defensive end as a junior on the JV Cardinal (A) team as a junior, and finally, he became an offensive lineman as a senior.

Matt Alcala, 2009

Trevor Rogas made the varsity in 2012, his junior year, and was a two-year starter at left tackle. Trevor is also adept at handling a bow; he is an accomplished archer and is a bow hunter in his spare time.

Trevor Rogas, 2012-13

Jeff Aykroyd, a backup tackle, wore #64 in 2015.

Tyron Lewis made the varsity in 2017, his sophomore year. He moved to Cincinnati afterwards and then came back to Houston.

Tyron Lewis, 2017

Garrett Poor made the varsity in 2018, his junior year, and he became a two-year starter on the Cy Woods offensive line. Mainly playing as a guard, Garrett earned 1st-Team All-District 14-6A honors as a senior in 2019.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 65

Now, on to #65.

Andrew Hopwood, a backup offensive lineman in 2008, was the first to wear 65. He mainly played as a guard.

Andrew Hopwood, 2008

Dylan Thompson made the varsity in 2009, his junior year, and was a starting defensive tackle. Against Skyline in 2009, Dylan came up with a huge interception that set up the game-winning touchdown for Cy Woods.

In 2010, his senior year, Dylan switched back to his old position, middle linebacker, switched to #48, and was selected as a team captain.

Dylan Thompson, 2009-10; wore #48 in 2010

Because Dylan switched to #48 in 2010, the #65 jersey was made available that year, and Robert Contreras, a backup offensive lineman, took it.

Robert Contreras, 2010

Robbie Beardmore, a guard, wore #65 in 2013. He got a start against Cy-Fair (if I remember correctly) and eventually became a full-time starter that year. I don't think he's related to Colton and Connor Beardmore; the fact that they share the same last name may be purely coincidental.

Andrew Gonzalez, a guard, was assigned this number upon his promotion to the varsity in 2014, his junior year. He was the only offensive lineman called up that year. He transferred out of Cy Woods as a senior.

Joaquin Garza, a tackle, wore #65 in 2016.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 66

Now, on to #66.

Corey Senior, a defensive end in 2008, was the first to wear this number. He switched to #43 in his senior year, but he left the team in the middle of the season. Corey literally lived in the weight room at Cy Woods. He was also a powerlifter for the Wildcats, and now, he's a professional bodybuilder.

Corey Senior, 2008-09; wore #43 in 2009

Chase Matthews, the starting right guard in 2009, wore 66 in 2009.

Joe Lozano was a running back on the JV before he moved to the offensive line in 2010.

Joe Lozano, 2010

Jeremy Orange, a defensive end, made the varsity in 2012, his junior year. He saw some playing time that year, and was a starter in 2013, rotating with Randall Medlin and Jarel Jones.

Jeremy Orange, 2012-13

Robbie Rodgers, a backup offensive lineman, wore #66 in 2014. His brother Jimmy was a long snapper for the first two seasons of Wildcat football.

The countdown continues with number 67.

Logan Geveshausen, a starting guard in 2008, was the first to wear this number.

A backup guard in 2009, Colton Lyons was the next player to wear #67. He is not related to Cameron Lyons, who was also a guard who played in the prior season.

Colton Lyons, 2009

Seth Misley, another guard, wore #67 in 2010. He was also a regional qualifier in wrestling.

Seth Misley, 2010

Conrad Wozniak normally wore 59, but he wore 67 for two games in 2011 while it was out for repairs. Both times, the Wildcats were the home team.

Tyler Dendy wore #67 during his junior season in 2013. For more on him, see #68.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 68

On to #68. Some good offensive linemen have worn this number for the Cats.

Cameron Lyons, a starting guard in 2008, was the first to wear #68. Cameron successfully walked on at Baylor, although he did not see game action.

Cameron Lyons, 2008

Zach Crossland, a guard, was the next to wear 68, doing so in 2009. Zach was mainly a backup, but he served as the 6th man for the offensive line that year, playing mainly on the right side.

Zach Crossland, 2009

Adam "Tonto" Howard, a tackle in 2011, was the next to wear #68. He mostly played on the right side of the offensive line.

Adam Howard, 2011

Mohammad El-Zibdeh, also known as The Beast, was the next Wildcat to wear #68. A guard, Moe made the varsity in 2012, his junior year. He was a two-year starter for the Wildcats, playing both left and right guard. His younger brother, Yousef, is a senior lineman.

Mohammad El-Zibdeh, 2012-13

Tyler Dendy, the starting left guard in 2014, was the next Wildcat to wear #68. He made the varsity as a junior in 2013 and wore #67 that year. He played some tackle, but his playing time came mainly as a guard. Ty also played hockey during his time at Cy Woods.

Ty redshirted during his lone season at the Colorado School of Mines. His younger brother, Tim, also played as an offensive lineman.

Timothy Dendy, a guard, made the varsity in 2015, his sophomore year. His older brother, Tyler, was a two-year letterman for the Wildcats and started at left guard in 2014. Tim also competed as a wrestler and was the district champion in the 285-pound class in 2017. In football, Tim was a two-year starter at guard in 2016 and 2017.

Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 69

And now, we are in the 60s. First up is number 69.

This number was never issued to anyone, probably because of the connotation it carries. However, Morgan Tosten was the first Wildcat to wear this jersey for a full season. He was originally a linebacker and when he was called up to the varsity in 2013, his junior year, he was assigned #40. He switched to defensive end as a senior and formed a fine partnership with his classmates, Justyn Johnson and Randall Medlin. Morgan joined the Navy after graduating from Cy Woods.
