Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 15

Now, on to 15.

15 was originally worn by cornerbacks, but in recent years, wide receivers at Cy Woods have worn this number.

Braylon Ransom, a cornerback, made the first varsity team in 2008, his junior year. In his two seasons, Braylon became a key member of the secondary for the Wildcats, earning second-team All-District 15-5A honors in 2009.

Joshua Holley, another cornerback, was a two-year starter who made the varsity in 2010, his junior year, and served as a team captain in 2011. He garnered All-District honors in District 17-5A in both seasons; he was a second-team selection in 2010 and was a unanimous first-team selection in 2011. Josh also lettered in baseball as a junior and track as a senior.

Josh and his classmates, Deonte Davis and Jamaul Tompkins, were part of a ruthless secondary in 2011. But, one of the most exciting plays I've witnessed came when he was on special teams. Against Cy Ranch in 2011 on a kickoff, Gus Rabadan kicked a high, towering pop fly, and Josh, realizing that the Cy Ranch player never signaled for a fair catch, leaped high to snare it out of the air, giving the Wildcats possession of the ball and setting the stage for a, um... pretty fun night.

Josh played collegiately at Prairie View A&M. His younger sister, Jereica, played basketball at Cy Woods and also threw the shot put.

Zac Duncan, a wide receiver, made the varsity in 2012, his sophomore year. He endured the pains of a non-playoff season that year and eventually rose to a leadership role, serving as a team captain in 2014, his senior year. A three-year starter, Zac was elusive and sure-handed, becoming a reliable target for his classmate, Nick Hooper. He returned the favor by throwing two touchdown passes to Nick in 2014.

Zac was a 2-time 2nd-team All-District 17-5A/6A selection, earning those honors in 2013 and 2014. He also competed in track for the Wildcats, running the 4x100, the 4x200, the 100, and the 200. Zac ranks second all-time in Cy Woods history with 1,176 receiving yards and is the Wildcats' all-time leader in receptions with 75.

Jake Wolf, a wide receiver, wore #15 in 2015.

Jacob Tesch, a wide receiver/running back, made the varsity in 2016, his sophomore year, and took this number. His two older brothers, Gary and Taylor, were both wideouts for the Wildcats. He switched to #7, a number that both of his brothers wore, in 2017.

Joseph "Jojo" Guillory, a defensive back, made the varsity in 2017, his sophomore year and was mainly a backup. He transferred to Porter after the school year.

Pearson Chesnutt, an A-back, made the varsity in 2018, his junior year; he did not play in 2019. He scored a touchdown against Cypress Park.

Konner Sabrsula, an A-back, switched to 15 for his first full season on the varsity in 2019 after wearing #28 when he was called up in 2018. Konner also played baseball at Cy Woods and his older brother, Koltin, was an offensive lineman in 2014.

  1. That track speed served Zac very well in 2013 when he was on the receiving end of a 93 yd touchdown catch and sprint to the end zone (televised vs. CyRidge)

  2. Joshua Holley also lettered in baseball his junior year and track his senior year.
