Cy Woods All-Time Roster: Number 59

On the final day of June, the countdown has now entered the 50s. First up is 59.

Tarin Baity, a defensive end in 2009, was the first to wear #59. He was also a backup center on the basketball team.

The next player to wear #59, Conrad Wozniak, was a two-year starter on the offensive line for the Wildcats as a guard. His younger brother, Wyatt, is a lineman (both offensive and defensive) who graduated from Cy Woods in 2015 and is currently playing at Indiana State. His older brother, Austen, played football at Cy-Fair and Indiana State.

In college, Conrad decided to go with baseball, which he also played at Cy Woods. His first stop was Frank Phillips College, a community college located in Borger, up in the Panhandle. Conrad then transferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where he won the America East Pitcher of the Year Award in his first season with the Retrievers. He finished the year with a 1.48 ERA, the 8th-best (tied with one other pitcher) figure in all of Division I. Conrad played a starring role for the Retrievers as they went 34-20 in 2015, their 2nd-highest win total in 46 years as a program, and reached the championship game of the America East Conference tournament.

Conrad now pitches for the Gary SouthShore Railcats of the independent American Association.
