Previously on Cy Woods Football...
The Cats took a 31-14 loss to Cy Ridge in the 2019 season opener for both squads. It was tough sledding on offense for Woods as they were held to just 200 yards on the night. Jackson Jones finished 11-25 for 117 yards and threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Tre Mejía. Defensively, Colton Morris had eleven tackles.
The Wildcats will look to get into the win column in their final non-district test.
The Enemy: Spring Lions
2019 Record: 5-6, 4-3 (t-2nd) in District 16-6A
Lost 17-14 to Klein Oak in 6A Division I, Region II bi-district round
The Lions finished the 2018 season in a five-way tie for second place in District 16-6A. In the end, when everything was calculated, Spring, along with Davis and Eisenhower, ended up advancing to the playoffs while DeKaney and Nimitz missed out.
Spring won their first game of the 2019 season as they trounced Elsik 41-6. They (this is not a typo) allowed -5 yards of total offense; the only touchdown that the Rams scored came on defense. The Lions also committed 17 penalties in this game; in last year's meeting with Woods, they committed eight.
All-Time Series
Cy Woods won the first meeting last year 49-41.

2¢ on Spring
The Lions have plenty of offensive firepower entering the fold as they look to pry the District 16-6A championship from Westfield's grasp.
Clyde Lacy had 700 yards rushing and four touchdowns as a sophomore last year and Terrance Singleton will join him to form a one-two punch at tailback. Alden Bradley, a junior, takes over under center and he's another dual-threat who showcased his running ability against Elsik as he ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns. They'll run behind an offensive line led by Deems-Lott and Hobbs. Bailee Davenport is the Lions' top returning wideout.
Dallas Reid returns to lead the Spring defense; he finished last year with 100 tackles. Reid also returned a fumble 83 yards for a touchdown in last year's meeting. Dave Campbell's describes the Lions' defensive play as "fast and aggressive" despite only returning four starters. They also go on to say that Myron Carter and Bruce Davis are both high-upside sophomores in the secondary.
Last Time These Two Teams Met
Cypress Woods came out with a 49-41 victory in their first-ever meeting with the Spring Lions. It was a game of runs; the Wildcats scored three straight touchdowns after Spring had opened the scoring and then the Lions responded with three straight touchdowns of their own. The Lions' third consecutive touchdown during that run gave them the lead. However, Woods would end up stringing a couple of scores on two separate occasions; the second time they did that came in the fourth quarter and it gave them a 49-35 lead. Spring managed to get one of those scores back but the Cats ended up leaving Leonard George Stadium with the win.
Carson Danner (127 yards, 4 TD), Darion Morgan (108 yards, 1 TD) and Christian Scott (101 yards) all ran for 100 yards in that game. Danner also threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Jake Tesch. Colton Morris had an interception in the third quarter that set up a Woods touchdown.
Sub-Varsity Game Information
I believe that the sub-varsity teams will play on Wednesday because Leonard George Stadium is being used for Westfield's game against Lamar on Thursday.
The new Spring ISD Stadium was supposed to be open in time for the start of this season but the weather has delayed its completion. As a result, Spring ISD teams will play at George Stadium for the time being.
Location of Leonard George Stadium
Located on the Spring High School campus.
