2018 Schedule, 7-on-7 Tournament Information

The pools for the State 7-on-7 tournament this weekend in College Station have been released, and the Cy Woods Wildcats were drawn into Pool C with A&M Consolidated, Mesquite Poteet, and Prestonwood Christian Academy. They'll take on A&M Consolidated at 1:00, Prestonwood at 3:00, and finish pool play against Poteet at 5:00 on Friday. 

Single-elimination play will begin Saturday morning. The top two teams in each pool will move on to the Championship bracket, which starts at 9:00 AM. The bottom two will play in the consolation bracket beginning at 8:00.

Now... on to actual football. After a long wait, the full 2018 football schedule has finally been released, and the tenth anniversary season of Cy Woods football will look like this:

Cy Woods will open the 2018 season against Cy Ridge at Pridgeon Stadium on September 1. They'll wrap up the non-district portion of the schedule by traveling to Spring to take on the Spring Lions.

The Cats will open District 14-6A play on Friday, September 14 as they travel to Tomball to face the Tomball Memorial Wildcats. This game will mark the first time that Cy Woods will play a district game outside of Pridgeon or the Berry Center and also the first time that they will play a district opponent hailing from a school district outside of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District,.

Cy Woods will have a bye week in the penultimate week of the regular season, which falls on the weekend of November 1-3.

2017 Schedule

Here is how the 2017 schedule shapes up for Cy Woods as they look to return to respectability after nearly collapsing into the cellar with a 2-8 record in 2016.

The schedule is essentially the same order of opponents from last year, only the games are played on different days. This is technically the tenth football team, but the ninth season since Cy Woods began varsity football.

Cy Woods will play all ten of its regular-season games at the two Cy-Fair ISD stadiums this year. They'll also have two Saturday day games on the docket.

Homecoming X is September 29 against Jersey Village at CF-FCU. It will also be the first time that the Wildcats will face the Falcons at the Stadium Formerly Known as the Berry Center. This is not the earliest Homecoming game for the Cats; Homecoming II (2009) against Cy Ridge was the district opener that year.

Notes/Thoughts

- The game against Jersey Village will be the 100th game in Cy Woods football history.

- Nice to see that the rivalry game is the last game of the regular season.

- On paper, the Wildcats look like they've got the toughest 2nd-half schedule in the district, as 4 of their final 5 games will be against last year's playoff teams. If they're in the top 4 by the time this portion of the schedule rolls around, it's probably safe to say that this stretch will determine whether the Wildcats will be a playoff team in 2016 or not.

- Cy Woods will play 3 times on Thursday this season, which will be the first time that they've had to do so.

- Also for the first time, the Wildcats will not have a day game on the schedule.

- The Wildcats have played Cy Springs in the season finale 4 times, but this will be the first time that these two teams will match up in a district opener.

- For the first time since 2010, the Wildcats will have a true road game on its schedule when they travel to Klein Memorial Stadium to take on Klein Collins.
